Platform Presence & Consistency
Can people find it, and is what they find current and consistent?
Platform Presence & Consistency is Core Code 5 of the Seven Core Codes that Culture Compass scores. Search discoverability, coverage of the platforms that matter for this kind of organization, consistency of profiles, website quality, and recency of activity. In plain terms, it measures whether people can find an organization, and whether what they find is current, consistent, and complete on the platforms that matter for its kind. The score runs from 0 to 100 and is the weighted mean of 5 subdimensions, each scored only from cited evidence in the public record, then checked by an independent critic pass before you see it.
What is measured
| Subdimension | Weight | Strong signal | Weak signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search discoverability | 25% | The organization is found for its own name and for the category and place queries its audience would use, and it is not confused with similarly named entities. | buried, ambiguous, or outranked by unrelated entities. |
| Coverage of platforms that matter | 20% | Present on the platforms where this audience actually is, and not spread thin on ones that do not matter. Judged by the lens, not by platform count. | Judged relative to peers; no single weak pattern. |
| Profile consistency | 20% | Names, handles, bios, links, hours, addresses, and branding match across platforms and directories. | outdated or conflicting information. |
| Website quality | 20% | The site is clear, current, mobile-friendly, and has the pages a newcomer needs. | broken, dated, slow, or missing essentials. |
| Activity recency | 15% | Primary channels show activity within a window appropriate for the organization. | last activity months or years ago. |
For search discoverability, coverage of platforms that matter, website quality, activity recency, absence is itself the signal: if the engine searches and finds nothing, that subdimension scores low rather than being left out. For every other subdimension, missing evidence means insufficient, and it is excluded from the weighting instead of being guessed.
What counts as evidence
- Search discoverability. Search results for the name, name + city, category + city, leader names; knowledge panel presence; directory listings; entity confusion observed during research.
- Coverage of platforms that matter. Inventory of profiles and channels; lens expectations for the organization type.
- Profile consistency. Compare profile fields across website, social platforms, Google Business or directory listings, podcast and video platforms.
- Website quality. Direct review of the website: key pages, recency of content, mobile rendering, clarity of navigation, obvious errors.
- Activity recency. Most recent post, episode, video, event, or update on each active channel.
Every claim the score rests on carries a numbered id that links to its source excerpt, so any number in the report can be traced back to where it came from. The engine reads the public web as a logged-out visitor; nothing behind a login is measured, and the report says so.
How well-known organizations score
From the public sample reports, produced from the public record with nothing removed. Each score links to the full report, where the subdimensions and the evidence behind this code are shown.
| Organization | Kind | Platform Presence & Consistency | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patagonia | Company | 80 / 100 | Yellow |
| charity: water | Nonprofit | 74 / 100 | Yellow |
| Brené Brown | Personal brand | 73 / 100 | Yellow |
| Elevation Church | Church | 69 / 100 | Yellow |
What the score means
| Score | Reads as | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 90 to 100 | Exceptional | independently corroborated strength; the top two codes turn green only above this line |
| 75 to 89 | Strong | clear strength with minor gaps |
| 55 to 74 | Solid foundation | the basics are in place and the gaps are specific and fixable |
| 35 to 54 | Weak or inconsistent | present in places, missing or contradictory in others |
| Below 35 | Largely absent | not there, or working against the organization |
Scores are absolute. Colors rank priority across the seven codes: the two lowest are red, the middle three yellow, and the top two green only when they clear 90.
How to raise Platform Presence & Consistency
The rubric's weak signals point at the fixes. In a full report each of these becomes a specific move with an owner and a KPI; these are the general shapes.
- Be findable for your own name. Search discoverability is measured directly. If a search for your name surfaces a same-named organization, an outdated listing, or nothing, this code shows it.
- Cover the platforms that matter for your kind of organization. The lens decides which platforms count: a church is read differently from a company or a public figure. Missing the platforms your audience uses is scored as absence.
- Make every profile agree. Names, locations, links, descriptions, and imagery are checked across profiles. Two domains running in parallel, an old name on a course platform, or a profile listing the wrong city are typical findings.
- Keep what people find current. Recency of activity is part of the score. A site or channel that was last updated years ago tells a visitor the organization may have gone quiet.
Questions about Platform Presence & Consistency
What is the Platform Presence & Consistency score?
Platform Presence & Consistency is Core Code 5 of 7 in Culture Compass. It answers one question: Can people find it, and is what they find current and consistent? It is scored from 0 to 100 as the weighted mean of 5 subdimensions, each scored only from cited public evidence.
How is Platform Presence & Consistency scored?
From 5 weighted subdimensions: Search discoverability (25%), Coverage of platforms that matter (20%), Profile consistency (20%), Website quality (20%), Activity recency (15%). The scoring engine reads the evidence set and the rubric, scores each subdimension from cited claims, and explains its reasoning; the weighted code score is computed from those subdimension scores. For search discoverability and coverage of platforms that matter and website quality and activity recency, "we searched and it is not there" is a legitimate low score. An independent critic pass checks the result before you see it.
